Creative sparks happen all the time. Sometimes they are small, and others can be as large as the Big Bang. One moment of creative spark for me was when I was young and had the opportunity to capture images during a field trip. I remember her passing one disposable camera to each group in the class and tasking us to document our learning throughout the day. I was super excited and started snapping away, taking pictures of everything I saw. Ten minutes later, my group asked who had the camera, and I passed the camera to a classmate for him to take two more photos, and the disposable camera was out of film. Not my greatest moment, but it was a creative spark for me.
That creative spark has become a flame that has created opportunities that younger me would have never imagined.
My mind was filled with possibilities, and I wanted to learn as much as possible about cameras and photography. Fast forward, and cameras have come a long way, and that creative spark has become a flame that has created opportunities that younger me would have never imagined. It’s that type of spark that educators can ignite in students.
In today’s blog post, I want to share five photography challenges that can spark creativity in your students. These challenges will allow you and your students to explore creativity and mindfulness through photography. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, the challenges below will inspire you to create.
The goal is to complete as many of the challenges below by using whatever camera you have available. Some challenges will push you out of your comfort zone, but have fun and learn along the way.
